Week 02 - Use of Silhouettes (Art Bible Blue Sky)

For the use of the silhouettes assignment of the "Rifts in War" project, we have decided that each person will design 8 designs of 1 character. I was chosen to design the main character, Keith Grimmer, the man who is down on his luck, lives in a basement, and has addiction problems.

When designing the character, I was trying to experiment a lot with poses to articulate the feeling of the character, so in a lot of silhouettes, Keith is in an awkward position, almost clumsy, which characterises him as a character. I also used props to make the character's design more distinguishable.

I have used a lot of reference material for these and tried to give each of them a unique design (body shape, hairstyle, pose)

UE5/Perforce Basics

For the second technical art assignment, we had to go through the basics of Perforce (marking for add, submitting, etc.), the basics of Unreal, and build a fantasy house, migrating assets.

I have started by going through the asset pack of Fantasy House and have realized that I wanted to incorporate more props into the scene; that's why I have decided to use an additional asset pack called AbandonedBuilding.

After deciding on what asset packs to use, I have started to build out the scene. I have started with the floor layout to define the confines of the house and built the walls.

The second thing I worked on was adding details inside. I have added beds, desks, books, and shelves. I like to keep a story in mind when working on an environment, and for this, I imagined an abandoned camp where students not only lived but also studied.

After adding the details, I added simple lighting to the rooms, which I am going to improve in future iterations of this scene.

Week 01 - Use Of Reference (Art Bible Reference)

For the Use of Reference Assignment, we took a lot of steps to make sure that we gathered the correct references to establish the foundation of the fictional world. We started off by watching the movie (War of the Worlds) and the gameplay of Ratchet & Clank to make sure that we know the source material.

After that, we created the Miro board where each of us gathered the references that we thought would be applicable for the theme we are going for. I was responsible for establishing the Design Pillars of the game, and we came up with three phrases that best describe the vision of our project: Desolate, Post-Apocalypse, and Eerie. Furthermore, I gathered the visual references for each phrase, which provide more insight into the vision that we have.
